Guatemala January 201
"We saw this little girl when we were in Guatemala. She was 11 years old. She had a bead in her ear that had been there since she was a little tiny toddler. She used to complain of her ear hurting every night when she went to bed. It was just a little plastic bead that had been there for nine years. It's that crazy, hard to imagine," says Dr. Kamal Elliot.
Thousands go without basic hearing health care which impacts lives. Kids are unable to go to school, learn and make friends while adult isolate themselves for fear of embarrassment and safety reasons.
With your help, "Hearing the Call" can return to Guatemala to give kids and adults a chance to realize their potential. With support from people like you last year, "Hearing the Call" screened more than a thousand people mostly kids in Panajachel, Guatemala. Dozens received hearing aids improving their hearing while others got the chance to hear for the first time. "We always talk about the hearing smile and so fun to see the joy on people's face and see the surprise when they find they have hearing potential," says Randa Mansour-Shousher, Au.D.
Now, there has never been a better opportunity to make your gift count and give the gift of a hearing smile.
